What is the BET’s project?

BET’s (Bare Electrodynamic Tethers) is a research project funded by the European Commission FP7 aimed at developing an innovative technology for LEO (Low Earth Orbits) satellites deorbiting based in Electrodynamic tethers.

The BET’s project take on an international team to get close to the electrodynamic propulsion technology that takes on:

• Plasma physics.
• Mechanics.
• Electric.
• Material science.
• Driving control.
• Orbit dynamic.
• …etc.

The BET’s project is coordinate by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and has the following participates:

• Universita degli Studi di Padova.
• ONERA – Toulouse.
• Universidad Estatal de Colorado.
• DLR – Bremen.
• INASMET – TECNALIA.
• Emxys.
